The Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg is to host an exhibition by Willemien Cilliers titled Modern Classical Masterpieces.

Cilliers specialises in copying famous paintings - from Rembrandt to Picasso. She works in a long-standing tradition that goes back to the Renaissance when aspiring artists would copy the works of the master who employed them. Though she remains true to the original she also sees reinterpretation as a key ingredient to her work.

The exhibition runs from June 9 to July 24.
