NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. In South Africa, the plight of the artist is an ongoing issue which the BAT Centre has constantly kept in discussion. The centre aims to showcase local talent in keeping with everyone’s “Rich Heritage” as South Africans. The BAT is compiling a list of talented youth gifted in the performing arts in order to be able to expose them to various opportunities related to job creation and skill exchange. These include: Live Bands; Maskandi, Jazz, Hip Hop; Ingoma, Isicathamiya, Acapella/ Harmony; Izimbongi; Story Tellers; Lyricists; Mcees; African, Eastern Etc.; Indlamu, Contemporary; Indian; Gumboot Dancers; Mapantsula; B-Boys; Isishiyameni Sezintombi; Izishubo; Isishiyameni Sezinsizwa; Umzansi; Isigekle. Send profiles or contacts to The BAT Centre on 031 332 0451 or fax to 031 332 2213 or email publicity@batcentre.co.za
