NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. On March 27, the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra regular symphony season concert is titled Subtle Dissonance. It features one of Bach’s most popular instrumental works, the Concerto for Two Violins. This will feature the highly accomplished South African violinist Peter Schoeman who is currently the co-concert master of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He will perform alongside young Jacqui Wedderburn-Maxwell, who has successfully graced the stage with the KZNPO on numerous occasions. Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony, with its subtleties and dissonance, is an interesting work that has gained far more attention since its debut. With every note and phrase having a purpose and meaning, it is a fitting energetic conclusion to the season. The concert takes place at 19h30 in the City Hall and booking is at Computicket. For more information click on the KZNPO advert on the main Music page or visit bookings@kznpo.co.za
