NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The University of KwaZulu-Natal holds regular free lunch-hour concerts on the Howard College campus. Appearing on March 17 will be Karin Bengmark, an accomplished singer, songwriter and voice teacher from Goteborg, Sweden. She has appeared as soloist and back-up vocalist all over the world with various artists for almost two decades. She has embraced many musical genres and sings Salsa, Latin, Soul, Gospel and Folk music. In this concert, her focus is her jazz quartet, Brandqvist/Bengmark Quartet, with which she recently recorded a second album of original music. Filip Kormuth will appear on March 19 in a concert which features a piano recital by this UKZN Music School graduate who will perform works by Janáçek, Martinů and Oçenás. There will be no concert on March 24 as it is a public holiday or on March 31 when there is an evening performance The free lunch-hour concerts take place at Howard College Theatre from 12h15 to 13h00 unless otherwise stated.
