NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Friends of Music will present a programme of music presented by outstanding young performers in song as well as on piano, recorder, violin and saxophone. Titled KwaZulu-Natal Rising Stars, the concert is held in collaboration with the South African Society of Music Teachers. The young singers and musicians taking part are: Jane Baillie and Jackie Wedderburn Maxwell (violin); Carmen Kinsey and Quincy Jansen (voice); Sharon Chung, Roshan Chakane, Bronwen Bosch and Cynthia Fan (piano); Michael Loubser (recorder), and Jonathan Judge (saxophone). The concert will be repeated in Pietermaritzburg at the Tatham Art Gallery on December 5 at 12h40. KwaZulu-Natal Rising Stars takes place on December 4 at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Club at 44 Old Fort Road. Tickets R50 (R20 students and scholars) booked at Computicket. There is safe parking.
