NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Veteran rock and folk singer and gravel-voiced balladeer Brian Finch will performing at the Catalina Theatre in Wilson’s Wharf for five nights only from November 21. Brian Finch – whose powerful legendary stage persona is pitched somewhere between the Marlboro man and Nick Nolte in full flight - is probably best known as being half of the hard-working 70's / 80’s acoustic duo Finch and Henson with the late Ken E Henson. Gigs which have gone down in history include the Finch & Henson Reunited act in December 2002 at Glenwood Old Boys or last May at the Catalina. These live events showcased the power, the sound, energy and humour of this iconic duo. Brian has been back on the road for the past six or so years (Never Look Back was recorded in Namibia) and he returns to the Catalina to perform his solo show at this waters’ edge theatre. He has launched his new CD, Never Look Back, and is re-introducing the re-released, digitally re-mastered 1974 debut classic, Bringing Back The Good Times, the album that sparked the 15 year Finch & Henson partnership and lasted for some six albums. Brian Finch performs at Catalina Theatre from November 21 to 25 nightly at 20h00 (Sunday at 18h00). Tickets R65 (R35 pensioners and students) with buy-one-get-one-free on November 21. More information or bookings on 031 305 6889.
