NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the MOTHS, Colin Penn has put together a very unusual ‘walk down memory lane’ titled We Will Remember Them. “First of all there will be the voices from the past including Churchill, Hitler, Ouma Smuts and Vera Lynn with the air raid sirens and the all clear,” explains Colin Penn. “Radio personality Michael Toms will be popping up from time to time with interesting snippets from both world wars, but most of all - for those who can remember ‘follow the bouncing ball’ singing - we have a huge screen and will be playing the hit parades of WW1 and WW2. “We have 85 songs and my band will be playing them all,” adds Colin. “There’ll be lots of music, lots of snippets, lots of laughs and lots and lots of memories.” Shows will take place at St Johns School in Pietermaritzburg on November 10 at 14h30 and at Durban High School on November 11 (Armistice Day) at 14h00. Tickets R50 (PMB show includes tea/coffee). Bookings for the Durban show on 031 205 9305 and for the Pietermaritzburg show through St Johns on 033 386 8304 and Pets Galore 033 345 4034.
