Multiple Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight, recognised as one of the greatest female singers of all time, is coming to Durban. Sponono Entertainment will present The Gladys Knight Tour in Association with SABC3 and Metro FM which takes in five shows in South Africa in October. This seven-time Grammy winner has enjoyed No.1 hits in pop, R&B and adult contemporary. She was ranked No 18 in the 2005 Guinness Book of World Records list of the most successful female musical artists of all time. She has recorded more than 40 albums over the years and enjoyed another No.1 hit in 1985 when she teamed with Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Dionne Warwick on That’s What Friends are For. Gladys Knight also recorded the title theme for the James Bond movie License to Kill and has performed on television appearing in Benson, The Jefferson’s and New York Undercover. In 1999 she completed a starring run on Broadway in the smash musical hit Smokey Joe’s Café. Gladys Knight’s performance in Durban takes place on October 28 at the ICC Arena. All the concerts are seating only and booking is at Computicket.
