NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Tree63’s forthcoming tour of South Africa, or Tour the Beloved Country 2007, presented by Wimpy, is set to rock thousands of fans who have been eagerly awaiting the homecoming of local rock icons John Ellis (vocals, guitar), Daniel Ornellas (bass, vocals) and Darryl Swart (drums, vocals). Renowned for their exceptionally tight and energetic live performances, Tree63 have been touring the world consistently for the past five years, without a series of shows on African soil for over two of those. Solid and chart-topping albums have backed up these exhilarating live sets equally consistently, the most recent of which is a superbly packaged and creatively produced blend of new studio songs and older live material. This album, Worship Volume 1: I Stand For Youi has been enhanced significantly for South African fans and re-released by Maranatha Records as a 2007 South African Tour Limited Edition, which includes previously unreleased material, new live versions of Tree63 hits, and two ground-breaking kwaito remixes of the mega-hit Treasure originally from the band’s breakthrough album 63 in 2000. The tour kicks off officially on March 2 in Pretoria and takes in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Cape Town, Potchefstroom, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg. In KwaZulu-Natal, Tree63 perform at the Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg on March 6 and then travel to their home town of Durban for a massive show at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club, on March 9. "We’re hoping to reach as many of our amazing South African fans as possible – they stay unbelievably loyal even though we can’t always be around to play for them,” says songwriter Ellis. “It’ll also be great to get some real South African sunshine!” He adds, “We’re also very thankful to our sponsors who are making it possible for us to come home for this tour – and some great food – at last!” All Tour The Beloved Country 2007 shows will start at 19h00. Tickets are now available for all shows at Computicket (online and at all outlets), and will shortly be available at Gospel Direct stores nationwide, as well as at the venues on the nights of the performances.
