NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Durban's premier arts event will join forces with the city's most established Fashion Extravaganza, The Durban Designer Collection on May 13 and 14. DDC meets Red Eye 2005 is certain to provide a new edge to fashion and art and will take place in the historic, cultural precinct surrounding Durban's City Hall, the Playhouse complex and the Royal Hotel. Urban Edge - as the event has been dubbed - aims to promote inner city renewal by attracting people back into the city and into some of Durban's more breathtaking venues. Street side cafes, outdoor art installations, live music, dance and performance will be the order of the evening with new work from some of the most talented young artists KZN has to offer. The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform at all three DDC shows - yet another fusion of the arts which will make this event unique and a major creative showpiece for Durban. Tickets available through Computicket. Contact numbers: DDC - Debbie Reynolds, Managing Editor of The Mercury on 031 308 2351 or Red Eye - Liana Turner, Durban Art Gallery on 031 311 2268.
