Steven Stead, who recently directed The Playhouse Company’s Bravo! Night at the Opera is to direct Verdi’s Rigoletto for Opera Africa. Formerly based in Durban, Opera Africa is now operating in Gauteng.

Conducted by Jeremy Silver and featuring David Kempster, Stefan Louw, Angela Gilbert, Paul Madibeng and Dale Wesson, Rigoletto will have performances at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein with the Freestate Symphony Orchestra on June 8, 10 and 12.

The production then moves to the State Theatre in Pretoria for performances on June 30 and July 2, 5, 7 and 9 with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
