Newly appointed lecturer in Jazz Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Music School, Zim Ngqawana (saxophone) will perform a concert with Andile Yenana (piano), Herbie Tsoali (bass) and Kevin Gibson (drums) on April 22. Grounded in his South African roots and committed to developing and creating an audience for new South African jazz, Zim Ngqawana's music draws on influences ranging from South Africa's folk and rural traditions to Indian and western classical music, world music and the avant-garde.
