NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. SAfm’s website, SAfm Online, promises to provide listeners to the station with “An enhanced SAfm experience” by giving more background on SAfm personalities, programmes, greater levels of interaction between listeners and the station and various features exclusive to its online presence. “We’re extending the quality programming we do on air to the Internet,” SAfm Online project leader Tony Lankester said. “We accept that, in the future, the way people receive information is going to change. It’s no longer good enough just to provide quality radio broadcasts – our listeners expect to find a web presence that gives them the same quality, the same sort of information and the ability to interact with the station and its presenters. Our internet service will bring top interviews and information to our listeners desktops.” SAfm Online will give visitors the ability to engage Tim Modise in a debate on racism, pick Rafe Lavine’s brain about the best Blues CD’s to buy, or give their own opinion on Alan Swerdlow’s film reviews. The site can be found at 333.safm.co.za.
