On December 8, the Prince Claus Fund will announce the winners of the Prince Claus Awards at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. HRH Prince Claus of the Netherlands plans to present the Principal Award of USD 100,000 during a festive afternoon ceremony. This year, both the prize and the ceremony itself will stand in the theme of Creating Spaces of Freedom, a reference to the inventive manner in which artists and intellectuals in restrictive circumstances “make room” for their freedom of opinion. South African judge and anti-apartheid activist, Albie Sachs, will hold this year’s lecture entitled A Conceited Look at Creating Free Space for the Artists
