NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The BAT Centre is to host a two-day workshop on October 29 and 30 on “The Relationship of Community Arts Centres with the Province and Local Government”. The workshop is for community arts centres throughout KwaZulu-Natal. The focus is to highlight the development of all community arts centres and the partnerships that can be forged with local government and the various other organisations, such as the MAPPSETA, CreateSA, the University of KwaZulu-Natal School of Development and Adult Education, Flanders Partners, BASA, the NAC, the Department of Labour and the DAC. The intention of this workshop is to forum the relationship that exists between the government and community arts centres, and how to improve these relationships to the benefit of all involved. Minister of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mr Narend Singh, will open the workshop on October 29 at 09h00 and representatives from the Zululand and Ethekwini Municipality will be attending. Further information from the Bat Centre on 031 312 0451.
