Durban Hilton International’s popular Rivets Bar presents regular jazz sessions on Thursdays.

June 3: Natalie Rungan – this glamorous and vibrant well-known Durban singer is a hot favourite at Rivets. Always impressing with her stylish presentation, she combines a number of her own compositions as well as some lesser-known standards to create a repertoire that is stimulating and challenging.

June 10: Melanie Roberts - a versatile and accomplished singer who has a penchant for romantic jazz ballads. Professional, polished and very engaging, she offers an evening of jazz with the glitz of a musical event. She will be accompanied by her favourite bass player Philani Ngidi.

June 17: Gerald Sloane & The Boys- lead guitarist Gerald Sloane is versed in a number of styles but has a soft spot for jazz. He and his band play well-known standards, incorporating Latino rhythms, familiar songs from various eras as well as some easy to listen to contemporary jazz.

June 24: Consonance – led by Nhlahla Mnikathi on lead guitar, Consonance concentrates on a wide selection of popular Afro-Jazz standards and contemporary African jazz. This band proved its worth by winning the Afro-Jazz category at national level in the final year of Old Mutual Jazz Encounters. Their vibey foot-tapping tunes and solid rhythms make for a great evening of jazzy entertainment.
