The innovative CREATESA/MAPPPSETA Learnership programme will be launched at the BAT Centre on June 4 at 18h00.

Implemented by Business Enterprise Entrepreneur Support (BEES), Durban Institute of Technology (DIT) and Sakhizwe Creative Industries Organization, the Live Events Technical Production Learnership is currently training 22 learners in live event technical skills, including sound, power, light, first aid and business management. This project began on March 23 and will end in December 2004.

Over 200 people from around KZN applied for this uplifting course. They were short-listed down to 50 who had to prepare a presentation to prove their worth. This was evaluated by representatives of Business Enterprise Entrepreneur Support (BEES), Durban Institute of Technology (DIT) and Sakhizwe Creative Industries Organization.

From this presentation, 25 learners were successful but three had other commitments and had to give up the chance to be trained. Of the 22 currently training, the youngest is 19 and the eldest 35. At the end of their training they will receive a National Certificate in Live Event Technical Production.
