Thomie Holtzhausen from AccoTravel News and Caroline Smart from Caroline Smart Services/artSMart.co.za together with the KZN branch of the Performing Arts Network of SA (PANSA) and a student from Hamburg University of Applied Science - Christa Kallmeyer - are working on an audience questionnaire about their support or otherwise of the activities of the performing arts in Durban.

Another questionnaire - What’s right with the arts in Durban. What’s wrong with the arts in Durban? And do we know why - is being developed for industry practitioners to gather useful information to identify audience likes and dislikes, preferences and booking habits.

The first questionnaire asks audiences and members of the general public about their preferred time and day for attending theatre, preferred ticket price, venue, performing arts genre and ticketing options.

Industry professionals are being asked about how often they put on productions, preferred venues, ticketing options, subscriptions opportunities and company capacity. The questionnaire also asks them their opinions of the best and worst aspects of the performing arts in Durban.

This information is being synthesised, with the results to be made available to PANSA members and others for debate and appropriate action and strategies.
