Artcha serves up SA’s hottest Art. This week on Artcha (May 21), South Coast impression landscape painter Anton Benzon takes viewers through a fine art masterclass demonstrating basic techniques in landscape painting. The programme comes from the opening of Shaleen Surtie-Richards’ one woman show, Shirley Valentyn. Also on the programme is young artist award winner, photographer Lolo Veleko. They find out more about Nataniel’s new lifestyle range, ‘Kaalkop’. They wrap up the show in Durban where impressionist oil painter Anton Benzon gives presenter Masello Motana a masterclass in pallet knife technique. Anton Benzon’s work can currently be seen in the Anton Benzon @ Crouse Art Gallery KZN, which is at 56 Adrain Road in Morningside. On May 28, Artcha kicks off with the international production, Merchants of Bollywood. Masello chats to Durban’s Lisa Bobbert about her one-woman production of Shirley Valentine. Shirley Valentine is a middle-aged Liverpool housewife, who finds herself talking to the wall while she prepares her husband's chips 'n egg, wondering what happened to her life. But when her best friend wins an all-expenses-paid vacation to Greece for two, Shirley begins to see the world, and herself, in a different light. Lisa Bobbert plays Valentine in this KickstArt Production directed by Steven Stead and designed by Greg King. Capetonian Hellie Pienaar showcases the latest in food styling, while renowned sculpture artist Jan Van Der Merwe takes us through a masterclass.
