The Department of Drama Studies at the Durban Institute of Technology will present the satirical farce King Ubu (Ubu Roi). Written by Alfred Jarry, it is the tale of a buffoon who represents the tyrants who rule the African continent.

Directed by Allen Auld, the 50-minute production runs nightly at 19h00 at DIT’s Courtyard Theatre, Mansfield Road, from October 6 to 8. There will be an extra performance at 16h00 on October 8.

The cast includes Mondli Mabaso as Ubu King; Nomagugu Banda and Kubeshnie Norainsami as Ubu Ma with Lungani Ngcobo as Boggelas and Luke O’Gorman as Captain.

Tickets R15 (R5 students). Entrance is free for students with student cards.
