WATERS OF LIFE (article first published : 2001-09-20)

The Watercolour Society of South Africa's 66th National Open Exhibition will be held this year at the attractive NBS Education Centre of the Durban Botanic Gardens.

The exhibition, which attracts artists from all corners of South Africa, is titled this year Waters of Life and will be opened by well-known artist John Roome on September 21 at 18h30 for 19h00. Thereafter, it will be on show until September 30. Gallery hours are 09h00 to 16h30 daily.

The Society’s KZN branch is particularly excited that this prestigious exhibition is being presented in KZN which is noted for its considerable support from local watercolourists.

Anthea Martin, director of the African Art Centre, is this year’s invited guest artist. “We believe that her art works reflect the vibrancy and innovation of the watercolour medium together with a fresh expression of the KwaZulu-Natal landscape,” says visual arts curator, Bren Brophy. Anthea Martin will conduct an informative walkabout of the exhibition on September 29 at 12h00.
