PROTESTORS AT ETCHINGS (article first published : 2008-08-9)

Etchings Art Gallery in Durban North plays host to a large “crowd of protestors”, gathered together at in support of original art works.

Etchings spokesperson, Wendy Cornell, said that all the demands made by the protestors have been met and that Etchings does support local artists as well as display many original art works, further offering customers good prices, free quotes and excellent service. There is no shortage of artistic licence at Etchings.

The protestors – all carved wooden African figures - sport placards with remarks such as Etching our Future, Art for the People, No Electricity Needed, Need Artistic Licence and the amusing No Stayaway – come in.

Protestors - which is the title of the exhibition - will be at Etchings for the next two weeks, but the venue has promised that they will not cause any disruptions to other artists, artworks, or customers.

Etchings Etc is situated at Park Boulevard, in Brownsdrift Rd in Umgeni Park Durban North.
