BANK GALLERY (article first published : 2007-10-17)

Durban will soon have a new visual art venue with the opening of the Bank Gallery on October 25. The gallery will show the work of South African and International artists.

Well-known Durban sculptor Andries Botha will present (dis)Appearance(s), a collection of drawings (2007), lithographs and two recent sculptural installations that look at notions of neglect, identity, nurturing and remembering/not remembering. The exhibition will be opened by artist and writer Greg Streak.

An important part of the exhibition is its educational component. Andries Botha has put together a booklet about the exhibition for schools and institutions with educational officers available to guide learners through the show.
