NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Durban University of Technology Art Gallery will host the opening of their photographic department’s end of the year exhibition on October 18. As part of their studies, third year students are afforded the opportunity to interact with the lager photographic industry. This is done by inviting stakeholders in the industry to view their end of year portfolios. This opportunity affords the students immediate feedback from people who are already in the industry. By the same token, the exhibition also affords the industry the chance to see upcoming photographers. Participating students are Melisa Potgieter, Andile Mthembu, Ya Ying Tang, Derick Veldsman, Samantha Dawe, David van den Berg, Christy Robson, Thobeka Shezi, Derryn Semple, Sabelo Mngoma, Thembeka Dlamini, Mthoko Dludla and Christy A’Bear The photographic exhibition runs at the DUT Art Gallery from October 18 to November 1. More information from DUT Art Gallery on tel/fax 031 373 2207, e-mail: nontobekon@dut.ac.za or visit www.dut.ac.za
