STANDARD BANK EXTENDS NAF SPONSORSHIP (article first published : 2007-08-10)

Standard Bank has extended its longstanding 23-year association with the National Arts Festival (NAF) by renewing its sponsorship for a further three years, inclusive of the 2010 Festival.

Standard Bank is currently one of five main Festival sponsors, along with its initial partner, the Eastern Cape Government, as well as the National Lotteries Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, the National Arts Council and the SABC as media partner.

Clement Motale, Head: Group Sponsorships says: “Standard Bank has played an integral role in the history and success of the NAF. Extending the sponsorship is important in retaining the presence we have built over that time – but equally important in establishing the base for other sponsors to become involved.”

Standard Bank has been a joint sponsor of the Festival since 2002, previously having been the title sponsor from 1984.

The continued sponsorship re-affirms Standard Bank’s commitment to developing the arts in South Africa, providing platforms for both established and emerging South African artists; creating opportunities for collaboration with international artists; and building new audiences.

The renewed sponsorship allows Standard Bank to continue with its established properties and initiatives at the annual Grahamstown event: These include the winners of the Standard Bank Young Artists Awards, who feature on the Festival’s Main Programme; The Standard Bank Jazz Festival and The Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival.

The sponsorship of the Standard Bank National Schools Festival has also been renewed for three years. This is a separate event which follows in the week immediately after the National Arts Festival.
