TATHAM ARTISTS FORUM (article first published : 2007-02-26)

Working without support an artist may easily become unfocused. Having an opportunity for discussion and feedback from other artists and interested people can be of great benefit.

Artists are invited to bring works for discussion to the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg. The form provides a place to overcome the isolation in which artists normally work. The focus is on a discussion of content and techniques, led by education staff and experts from other fields.

The Artistsí Forum has been very popular. A number of regular Forum goers have participated in the Challenging Jabulisa exhibition. Other artists such as Penny Waller and Corina Lemmer used the Forums to finalise their works for exhibitions at the Gallery.

Responding to demand, the Tatham will also have an Artistsí Forum on Saturdays, though not as regularly as the Wednesday meetings.

Dates for the next Artistsí Forums are March 10 at 11h00; March 28 at 14h30 and April 25 at 14h30. More information on 033 392 2801.
