WOMEN FOR CHILDREN (article first published : 2007-02-26)

Art for Humanity's Women for Children print portfolio exhibition is running at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg.

The exhibition flows from a project run by Artists for Humanity and consists of a collaboration between 50 prominent women artists and poets, 46 of them South Africans, on the issue of children's rights and welfare.

The 25 visual artists and 25 poets created a portfolio of prints and poems that speak about the relationships between women and children as well as safety and security, violence and violation. The artists and poets range from new local voices to internationally-acclaimed poets such as Karen Press, who collaborated with Lien Botha.

Women for Children runs until April 15. The portfolio includes etchings, linocuts, and digital and mixed media prints created specifically for the campaign. More information on 033 392 2801.
