WENDY MILLS (article first published : 2005-12-13)

The Blue Caterpillar Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg will host an exhibition by Durban artist Wendy Mills from December 14 to January 16.

Wendy was born in Kent, England and lived in Zimbabwe from 1952 where she operated her own gallery in Harare. In 1982, she moved to Durban with her family where her artwork has been exhibited for the last 20 years at shows and galleries. The exhibition at the Blue Caterpillar Art Gallery showcases her love of South African scenery and wildlife, as well as the English countryside where she spent two and a half years as a resident artist.

Wendy Mills was named "Top Seller in 2004" at one of South Africa’s largest art shows, which confirms her reputation as one of the regions top artists. Her work is displayed in galleries in the UK, Zimbabwe and South Africa and in private homes around the world.

The exhibition of woodcut prints by Ezequiel Mabote will continue to run in the downstairs gallery during this period. Some of the works on this exhibition can be viewed online at www.butterflies.co.za

The Blue Caterpillar Art Gallery is situated at Butterflies for Africa in 37 Willowton Road, Pietermaritzburg. Further information from Jeni on 033 387 1356 or email art@butterflies.co.za
