TATHAM SUCCESS STORIES (article first published : 2000-01-10)

In the latest newsletter of the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg, details are given of last year’s “success stories”. Siyabonga Sikhosana, a Standard 9 pupil who regularly takes part in the Tatham’s art workshops, held an exhibition at the BAT Centre and was later invited to participate in an exhibition at the Durban Art Gallery.

Thulani Mchunu held a sell-out solo exhibition of his urban drawings in the Tatham and was then invited to take part in an exhibition that was held at the African Art Centre as well as the BAT Centre. Michael Matha jetted off to Australia with his two-metre minibus taxi to take part in a Crafts Fair in Adelaide. The construction of his taxi was sponsored by Toyota SA and his flight by the National Arts Council and the BAT Centre.
