WATERCOLOUR EXHIBITION (article first published : 2005-07-7)

The KwaZulu Natal Branch of the Watercolour Society of South Africa will hold its annual exhibition in the Kloof Town Hall, Old Main Road, Kloof, from July 29 to 31. The exhibition will be open daily from 09h00 to 16h30.

Well-known watercolourist Richard Rennie will officially open the exhibition at a cocktail party on July 29 at 18h00 for 18h30. He will also give a demonstration on July 30 from 09h00 to 11h00.

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to attend demonstrations each day by well known local artists. These include Richard Rennie (as mentioned above); Thelma Buzzard on July 29 at 14h00; Barbara Siedle on July 30 from 12h00 to 14h00, Lorna Panzenbock on July 31 from 11h00 to 13h00, and Marion Townsend on July 31 from 14h30 to 16h30.

These artists have volunteered their time, extensive knowledge and skill to showcase the beauty and excitement generated by the medium of watercolour. They will each have some of their paintings on display during the demonstrations which will give visitors a chance to see the full range of their talent.

On July 30, visitors will be encouraged to vote for the painting they think is the best on show and The Peoplesí Choice will be tallied and awarded that afternoon.

Every day there will be a never-ending supply of cakes available at the Tea Garden. Along with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee, patrons can decide which paintings will grace their homes, bearing in mind that a percentage of all sales will be donated to the SPCA and Highway Hospice.
