NCAYF ART (article first published : 2005-05-16)

The 2005 National Creative Arts Youth Festival Visual Arts competition and exhibition takes place from August 18 to September 1.

The DIT Art Gallery in partnership with the National Creative Arts Youth Festival invites artwork entries for the 2005 National Creative Arts Youth Festival Visual Arts competition and exhibition. Its aim is to stimulate creativity amongst young people of KwaZulu-Natal, exhibit their works of art and through substantial cash rewards, to encourage them to pursue their artistic endeavours.

The competition is open to ALL young people under the age of 21 whether at school, in tertiary institutions or independent. Artworks in any media will be accepted, and they will be selected by a panel of judges. Prizes will be allocated as stipulated in the entry forms.

Entry forms are available at the Durban Art Gallery (City Hall), NSA Gallery (Bulwer Road), The Bat Centre (Small Craft Harbour), The African Art Centre and at the Durban Institute of Technology (DIT) Art Gallery. Entry forms may be photocopied and an entry form must accompany each work.

The closing date for submission of all entries is August 10 between 08h00 and 16h00 at the Durban Institute of Technology Art Gallery (formerly Technikon Natal Gallery), First floor, Cecil Renauld Library Block, Mansfield Road.

The exhibition of the entered works will open on August 18 and close on September 1. This exhibition will take place at the DIT Art Gallery.
