NEW WORKS AT BAYSIDE (article first published : 2005-03-31)

Oils, pastels and tiled ceramic panels are amongst the new works by well-known artists now on show at Durban’s Bayside Gallery.

Stembiso Sibisi has used oils on canvas to depict rural and urban scenes from his native KwaZulu-Natal while Soweto’s Peter Sibeko cheerfully depicts musicians in township settings in pastels.

Bea Jaffrey’s framed tiled panels are a significant departure from her usual hanging pieces – both in size and in focus – in that her latest work is reminiscent of Zanzibari doors.

The Bayside Gallery in located at the BAT Centre in Durban’s small craft harbour and gallery hours are from 10h00 to 16h00. Further information from Sue Greenberg on 031 368 5547.
