ITCH (article first published : 2004-04-25)

Itch, the creative submission quarterly from Bell-Roberts Publishing launched in March with its first issue, is now available from all CNAs and Exclusive Books nationwide, or through direct-order from Bell-Roberts Publishing on 021 422 1100.

Bell-Roberts Publishing now invites submissions for the second issue, due on-shelf in June 2004. The organisation publishes work of any visual or written nature, as long as it meets their high standards of excellence. All submissions are reviewed by an editorial board before they are selected and curated.

Written work that fits within (or not) any of the following loose genres will be considered: factual or journalistic essays on any topic; think-pieces on socio-economic or political issues as well as poetry and experimental short fiction. Also considered are thought-provoking and substantiated opinion pieces on any topic of interest as well as academic essays adapted for the layperson (references and/or bibliography essential).

Bell-Roberts Publishing strongly affirms that plagiarism will not be tolerated.

Visual work will be considered in the following (and other) mediums: any image or series of images; fine art or journalistic photography; top quality images of any fine art medium and any graphically generated work and genre of graphic design or illustration. Also to be considered are cartoons and sketches. Photo essays including text are also welcome as are stand alone images or illustrations of articles.

Contributors are not paid for their work but do retain copyright and receive vast national and international exposure in a collectible, quality publication.

All submissions must include: 100 words or less abstract or overview of the submission; full contact details for the contributor(s) and an extremely brief overview of the artist/writer and what they do. Digital visual submissions must be e-mailed or delivered on CD in high resolution jpg, tiff, pdf, or psd files (i.e. 300 dpi or higher).

The deadline for the second issue is April 30. Submissions or enquiries to e-mail: itch@bell-roberts.com or post/deliver them, clearly marked ITCH, to Bell-Roberts Publishing, 199 Loop Street, Cape Town.
