EASTCAPE NATIONAL SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY (article first published : 2003-10-21)

The Port Elizabeth Camera Club invites all South African Photographers to participate in the Eastcape National Salon of Photography Competition.

Any image depicting the Proudly South African Theme may be entered into this salon. There is one division only and any South African subject is eligible, the only criteria being that the image should be of a recognisable South African theme. Digital and manipulated entries are welcome and can be submitted either as prints of slides. Maximum print size A4 prints must not be mounted.

An audio-visual presentation will be compiled from a selection of the entries which will be scanned for this purpose. This will be exhibited at the annual and regional Congresses of the Photographic Society of Southern Africa and its member clubs and the annual Congress of the Photographic Society of America and will be included in the educational recorded lectures library of the Photographic Society of Southern Africa. Any further use of the Audio-Visual and individual entries will be negotiated with the photographer.

Great prizes will be awarded for Best on Show, Best Print and Best Slide. Eastcape Medals and Certificates of Merit will also be awarded. Acceptance cards and PSSA Impala Trophy points in the pictorial print and slide divisions will be awarded for all successful entries.

Closing date for entries is January 31, 2004; judging will take place on February 14 and 15; results mailed on February 18 and the final positing of all entries will be March 5.

For further information about the Photographic Society of Southern Africa and affiliated Camera Clubs is available on http://www.pssa.co.za under Salons, or write to The Photographic Society of Southern Africa, P O Box 6561, Homestead, 1412.
