BRONZE CASTING WORKSHOP (article first published : 2003-08-25)

Sculptors Kim Goodwin and Sarah Richards are to run bronze-casting workshop in October. This gives those interested in attending the workshop ample time to prepare their wax sculptures beforehand.

The workshop will give people a chance to experience creating a bronze sculpture first-hand, bringing awareness to the process by demystifying it and making both sculpture and bronze casting more accessible. Both artists and non-artists are welcome.

The actual workshop will be held at the Goodwin Foundry in the Natal Midlands (Lidgiton) on October 11. In Durban, on September 25, there will be a pre-workshop talk by Sarah Richards giving advice and support in preparing the small wax sculptures and Kim Goodwin will give an introductory talk.

Cost is R1,200 and includes guidance in making wax sculpture, bronze, tuition, cuttlefish casting, lunch and teas. Further information from Sarah on 083 707 0126 or 031 201-0306.
