ZAMANI MAKHANYA (article first published : 2003-06-25)

The next exhibition at the African Art Centre features Zamani Makhanya’s oil pastels.

Zamani explores symbols and images depicting a mystical world view. Some of the titles give a clue to understanding the works: The Shrine, The Exorcist, Portrait of Isis, Sankofa - Don't forget your past; Pangs of Initiation and Mystical Journey.
