USCAA ANNUAL MEMBERS’ EXHIBITION (article first published : 2003-06-21)

The 20TH Annual Members’ Exhibition of the Upper South Coast Art Association promises to be one of the best ever. USCAA is serious about encouraging fledgling artists and nurturing its “young” members but the considerable talent of other established members makes this an exhibition not to be missed this year. A highlight at the exhibition will be selected paintings by well-known wild-life artist Barbara Siedle, who will also open the function on July 7.

Another exciting development is that three well-known artists have recently become members: Marion Townsend, famous for her watercolour work; Michele Batchelder who has an impressive style of textures and dimension, and Wendy Mills whose feelings for the African landscape are reflected in her paintings.

“USCAA has experienced a strong resurgence in interest in painting this year and the members are fired up and can’t wait to put their talent on display,” says Chairman John Capendale. “If our monthly theme competitions are anything to go by there is going to be some very good work on show. So come and enjoy a day in the country. Have a look round our exhibition and have a drink and a pub lunch at our new venue, Lords and Legends.”

Lords and Legends is situated at the Sports complex at Hutchinson Park, Riverside Road, Amanzimtoti. The exhibition runs from July 7 to 13 – open Monday to Saturday from 10h00 to 09h00 and Sunday from 10h00 to 13h00.
