DRAG SHOW FUNDRAISES FOR TSUMANI (article first published : 2004-12-29)

The popular Family Players are putting together what they title A New Drag Show as a fundraiser for the victims of the Tsumani Disaster.

There will be one performance of this show at the Rhumbelow Theatre on January 15. Joining the Family Players will be singer Belinda Dolphin.

“In a time of global tragedy all Nations need to pull together,” says Roland Stansell who runs Rhumbelow Theatre. “These islands have been the holiday resort for many in South Africa and now are a sad reminder of an international catastrophe. The Family Players will bring humour to our lives and assist in funding the Aid Relief Fund Set up with East Coast Radio.”

The Family Players’ objective is to sell 150 tickets at R100 which, combined with the Rhumbelow’s contribution, should amount to a figure in the region of R15,000.

A New Drag Show Compilation Of The Last 2 Years Best takes place on January 15 at 20h00. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. Bring food picnic baskets (braais will be available for those who wish to cook some meat). A bar is available (NB: Alcohol may not be brought on to the premises). There is limited secure parking.

Booking is essential. Contact Roland on 031 205 7602 or 082 499 8636 or e-mail roland@stansell.za.net Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road, Umbilo.
