ALADDIN EXTENDED (article first published : 2004-12-17)

Following other successful productions in the adult pantomime series from the Sue Clarence/Gary McKenzie stable, Aladdin … trouble is running at the Royal Hotel’s splendid Grillroom.

With a stage created specially for the purpose, the show is feisty, naughty (but not obscene) and features some great performances. All the favourite characters are back with Princess Jasmine (Julia Clarence); Aladdin (Marc Kay); Twankie (Peter Court) and her side-kick Bubbles (Rowan Bartlett); the evil Sultana - the Bag of Baghdad (Clare Mortimer) and of course, the Genie (Anthony Stonier).

Due to popular demand, the show has been extended after its original closing date of December 19 to January 29, which will make it the only show running after everything else closes!!

Tickets R150 include the show and a sumptuous three-course meal. The production is written by Patrick Hyland and directed by Peter Court with set design by Peter Court and costume design by Kit Reading from London.

To book phone Royal Hotel on 031 333 6000 (ask for Marlene) or through Computicket. The show is for diners only with performances Tuesday to Saturday at 19h00 for 20h30 and Sunday lunch at 13h00 for 14h30pm. There is no show on Monday.

NB: Two special shows include New Year’s Eve and a special price performance. After the show finished at 23h30 on New Year’s Eve (tickets R300), audiences will have sufficient time to charge their glasses and begin the countdown to the New Year with the cast. Ticket price includes a special four-course meal and sparkling wine.

The second special performance takes place on December 19 at 14h30 (tickets R40) for the show ony – no dining. Bookings through Sue on 082 882 9869.
