SEE HOW THEY RUN (article first published : 2004-08-26)

Highway Intimate Theatre will present the classic British farce See How They Run written by Phillip King from August 27 to September 5.

The hilarious play is built on misunderstanding, mistaken identity and misinterpretation. It involves the vicar of Merton-cum-Middlewick, his ex actress wife, her uncle (a bishop) and her fellow ex thespian now drafted into the army. Adding to the confusion are a German POW (now escaped), the village gossip who has eyes for the vicar and a dippy maid. Further hiatus is added by another vicar Ė called to stand in for the Sunday service - and a very officious policeman!

The action takes place at the vicarage during the last part of the Second World War.

The cast includes seasoned players Clare Hoogersvorst, Pauline Staff, Cris Piccione, Warren Gorringe, David Andrews, Ben Nel and David Campell Ė Hall. Also featured are newcomers Liezel Karsten and Jonathan Payne. This production is Mary Gunnís debut at direction for for HITs.

Shows take place from August 27 to 29 and again from September 2 to 5 at 19h30 for 20h00. (Sundays at 18h30 for 19h00). September 4 is a charity night with cheese and wine. Tickets are usually available for those who canít make one of the supper evenings.
