LIFE’S A DRAG AND THEN YOU DYE (article first published : 2003-10-21)

The Family Players, the team responsible for turning the Rhumbelow Shellhole into a vibrant and active fringe theatre venue, will perform a drag show at the end of October.

“After the huge success of the Comedy drag in August and the demand for tickets we decided to put pen to paper and construct another show with a laugh a minute,” explains Rhumbelow’s organiser Roland Stansell. “The drag comedy shows have always played to capacity houses over the weekends at the Rhumbelow and have become synonymous with getting rid of that weekday working blues.

“We opened this venue some two years ago with Tipsy Tarts Follies and played to capacity houses. Two years on and the Rhumbelow is still going strong.”

Life’s A Drag And Then You Dye features Family Players members Derek Pearce, Gino Veronie, Roland Stansell, Alan Quihampton and Isaac Shozi.”

Shows take place on October 31 and November 1 at 20h30 and on November 2 at 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.

Tickets R40. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road.

To book contact Roland on 031 205 7602 (h) or 082 499 8636, or email roland@stansell.za.net
