TIPSY TARTS FOLLIES POSTPONED (article first published : 2003-08-19)

The Family Players’ Tipsy Tarts Follies originally due to play Rhumbelow Theatre from August 15 has now been postponed.

The new dates are August 29 and 30 at 20h30 and August 31 at 18h30. Herewith the previous article:

The Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo, converted from a MOTH shellhole hall by the highly pro-active Family Players, is now two years old. The Family Players’ Tipsy Tarts Follies opened Rhumbelow Theatre and played to capacity houses.

Two years later and The Family Players will revisit their former success. Tipsy Tarts Follies features Derek Pearce, Greg Baptie, Roland Stansell, John Cavalheir, Alan Quihampton and Isaac Shozi. The show is a comical lip-sync (except for Isaac who sings live) drag send-up of a group of down and out actors who have been without work for the last year in Durban.

They start off with no work, reminiscing about the good old days in the great Theatres of Durban and in the second half, they pick up their spirits and create a new look theatre extravaganza, all the while providing the audience with a comical evening of humour and mirth.

Tickets R40. The venue opens 90 minutes beforehand for picnic dinners. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available for those who wish to cook some meat. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (alcohol may not be brought on to the premises).

To book contact Roland on 031 205 7602 (h) or 082 499 8636, or email roland@stansell.za.net Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road.

<>”Tipsy Tarts” will be followed by Karen Campbell-Gillies in "Storm In A D-Cup" from September 12 to 14.
