BLOODY MARY AT RHUMBELOW (article first published : 2003-06-5)

Coming to Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo is Bloody Mary featuring Carol Trench and Evan Roberts.

The musical revue takes a light look at the Dark Ages. Queen "Bloody" Mary herself hosts this comic romp through the history of England's original dysfunctional Royal Family. This is the comic story of Queen Mary the Only one of England's most unpopular monarchs. Heads will be rolling in the aisles as Queen "Bloody" Mary launches into a musical romp through the pages of history.

Bloody Mary features twisted versions of some familiar songs and guest appearances by all the Terrible Tudors and their ex-wives. The show leaves no axe un-ground in its search for the real story behind the Terrible Tudors.

Carol Trench plays Bloody Mary and the "Ex's" - singer, sovereign, and royal pain; Evan Roberts plays Henry VIII on the one hand and piano with the other.

Shows June 6 and 7 at 20h30 and the venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.

Tickets R40. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available for those who wish to cook some meat. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (alcohol may not be brought on to the premises)

Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road. To book contact Roland on 031 205 7602 (h) or 082 499 8636, or email roland@stansell.za.net
