SIZZLE (article first published : 2003-05-23)

Sizzle is a celebration of Latin music, comedy and magic which comes to the Langos theatre in Durban North from May 28 for an eight week season.

Carlo Spetto – who is responsible for some of Sun City’s best extravaganzas – has joined forces with Durban choreographer Kevin Ellis in a production described as “finger snapping, toe tapping, slick and sexy”. The show offers Latin dance rhythms performed by a troupe of dazzling dancers in an array of spectacular costumes.

The show features dancers Kimbol Masters, Melanie Hartman, Denya Maslen and Candice Dafel with Kevin Ellis as dance leader and vocalistMiles Hartman. They will take audiences through a series of sultry Latin routines incorporating the rumba, samba, paso-doble and some of today’s Latin funk made popular by Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan.

Miles Hartman brings his powerful vocals to Durban for the first time providing big ballads, pop tunes and a touch of romance with music from the likes of Santana, Gypsy Kings and Enrique Iglesias. Miles has recently has performed at Caesars’ Circus Maximus in the sell-out show Motown Gold produced by Hazel Feldman and directed by Carlo Spetto. For the past 13 months he has sailed to Italy, the Greek Islands, Croatia, Spain, North Africa and Brazil on the luxurious cruise ship Costa Classica performing as the production singer for all the major shows on board.

Interspersed with the high energy dancing and singing will be a special blend of comedy, illusion and magic provided by the “Radical Magic of Vicus”.
