STOP IT I LIKE IT!!! (article first published : 2003-04-17)

In a daring need to get back to their roots, Durban’s own "Gee Jays" have devised a show that is full of what they are good at - nothing! Stop It I Like It comes to the Lango’s Theatre from April 8 until May 25.

Their latest show is simply a collection of songs, ballads, jokes, comedy sketches and impersonations that tickle and entice, provoke and amuse. And it’s all about nothing in particular!!

"This show’s about fun. It’s about giving our audiences what they’ve come to know us for over the years," says Gary McKenzie.

And in it there’s something for everyone. The group – which features the vocal and comic talents of Gary McKenzie, John Didlick and Grant Bell - take a stab at current situations, spotlight famous celebrities, examine the heartache felt by SA ex-pats, entertain famous guests and generally take the mickey out of everything - including political correctness.

Some of the numbers featured include Hey Baby, Sha-Boom, Sounds Of Silence, Brow Eyed Girl, Unchained Melody, Take Me Home Country Roads, Hey Jude as well as a medley of songs from The Village People , and of course Stop It- I Like It.

As usual The Gee Jays promise something for everyone and who knows - they may even keep their clothes on this time!! Audiences should be warned - the show is not for sensitive viewers.

Stop It I Like It runs at Lango’s Theatre until May 25, six nights a week. There is a Tuesday Ladies Night special and Sunday evening special of R100 for the show with a two course meal (guys are most welcome). Wednesday to Saturday costs R130 for a three course meal and show.

Shows are 19h00 (dinner) for 20h30 (show) Tuesdays to Saturdays and on Sunday 18h00 for 19h30 start. In all instances non diners are welcome (R65 pp for show only). Booking at Lango’s direct on 031 563 7324 or through Computicket or by calling 011 340 8000.
