STOP IT I LIKE IT (article first published : 2003-04-6)

In a daring need to get back to their roots, Durban’s own "Gee Jays" - Gary McKenzie, John Didlick and Grant Bell - have devised a show that is full of what they are good at. Nothing!

So says, this popular trio who will present Stop It I Like It at the Lango’s Theatre in Durban North from April 8 until May 25. Their latest show is simply a collection of songs, ballades, jokes, comedy sketches and impersonations that tickle and entice, provoke and amuse. And it’s all about … nothing in particular!

"This show’s about fun,” says Gary McKenzie. “It’s about giving our audiences what they’ve come to know us for, over the years.”

The irrepressible group takes a stab at current situations, spotlight famous celebrities, examine the heartache felt by SA ex-pats, entertain famous guests and generally take the mickey out of everything - including political correctness.

Some of the numbers featured include Hey Baby, Sha-Boom, Sounds Of Silence, Brow Eyed Girl, Unchained Melody, Take Me Home Country Roads and Hey Jude as well as a medley of songs from The Village People, and of course Stop It- I Like It.

As usual The Gee Jays promise something for everyone and who knows? They may even keep their clothes on this time!! They do warn that the show is not for “sensitive viewers” and “if you don’t laugh – you’ll cry!”

Stop It I Like It runs at Lango’s Theatre from April 8 until May 25, six nights a week – 19h00 for dinner and 20h30 for the show (Sundays 18h00 and 19h30).

Tickets Wednesday to Saturday R130 (three-course meal and show). Tickets R100 for Tuesday (Ladies Night special - guys most welcome).and Sunday evenings include show and two course meal. There are special low price previews at the R100 package.
