RERUN BY POPULAR DEMAND (article first published : 2002-10-11)

Da Joint is Jumpin, the latest new comedy drag show from The Family Players will have a re-run on October 18 and 19 by popular demand.

The response to the show has been overwhelming,” says Roland Stansell, ”and this has prompted us to put another two shows. Da Joint is Jumpin’ features the normal mad troopers. This show is a must. If you thought it safe to visit a bar in Durban ....., well you have not been to the Rhumbelow Lounge recently. Every drag and her dog has decided that they want to be a star and what better venue than The Rhumbelow Lounge? Songs in the show include everything you thought you might want to hear sung in a bar … and, well, everything you thought you never wanted to hear sung in a bar!”

Performances will take place on October 18 and 19 at 19h00 for 19h30 with the show starting at 20h30.

In November, Rhumbelow will host The Westenders with Darren King and Vanessa Skaer, a production that was sold out at the recent Natal Witness Hilton Arts Festival.

Musical greats are brought under the spotlight in this stylish cabaret. Some of the most memorable, poignant and captivating songs made famous on London's West End stage are revisited by Darren King and Vanessa Skaer. Both British born and experienced in musical theatre they join forces in this fun-filled show. From Cats to Cabaret and Les Miserables to Chorus Line, Darren and Vanessa sing and dance their way along the West End highway to revisit some of its greatest hits!

Performances on November 1 and 2 at 19h00 for 19h30 with the show at 20h30 and November 3 at 17h00 for 17h30 with the show at 18h30.

Tickets R40. Bring food picnic baskets. Braais will be available for those who wish to cook meat. Limited secure parking and cash bar available. Booking is essential.
