HERE, THERE & EVERYWHERE (article first published : 2002-06-27)

The company that delighted Durban audiences with their close harmonies and tight guitar work in their hugely successful 60s show “Those were the days”, are opening their new show Here, there & everywhere at the Royal Hotel’s Backstage from July 3 to August 10.

The new show - a nostalgic and fond tribute to the music of the Beatles - will feature Angela Dodds (vocals, flute & percussion), Fiona Tozer (vocals, guitar, recorder, saxophone and percussion), Dave Atkinson (vocals and guitar), Glen Turrell (vocals and bass) and Patrick Collyer (vocals and guitar). Of the new show Patrick Collyer has this to say: “When we did Those were the Days many people asked why there were no Beatles’ songs on our playlist. Our answer then was, and still is, that the Beatles – the “Fab Four” phenomenon that touched the lives of so many millions of fans in the 60s and 70s – deserve an entire show devoted to them and their music.

“Those who saw Those were the Days will love this show. Once again there will be no backing tracks – all the music and all the harmonies will be live with no artifice, frills and tricks. We are approaching the songs – which are deceptively simple – with honesty, respect and love, at all times trying to keep the youthful and beguiling spirit of the original versions intact.”

Among the twenty or more songs that are featured in the show are old favourites like Eleanor Rigby, Ticket to Ride, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man and Lady Madonna.
