THOSE WERE THE DAYS (article first published : 2002-06-10)

Those Were the Days - the smash hit show that wowed Durban audiences with the fine guitar work and tight harmonies - comes to the Lango's Theatre in Durban North from May 29 to June23.

Directed and co-ordinated by Patrick Collyer, the show features well-known radio personality Monica Fairall and Angela Dodds on vocals and Fiona Tozer, Dave Atkinson and Patrick Collyer himself on vocals and guitar. Described as a show with a "Woodstock" feel and as a "fond retrospective of the days when peace and love were in the air", Those Were The Days is sure to bring together the lost flower children of the 60's for an evening of rekindling memories of songs and harmonies from days gone by.

Those Were the Days includes memorable works of the singers/songwriters of the time such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, Donovan, Crosby, Stills Nash & Young Joni Mitchell and Simon & Garfunkel. The show is performed to live music.

Lighting is by Michael Broderick and sound by Ron McNamara.

A gentle tribute to the distinctive music and sounds of the 60's and early 70's, the show exceeded all exceptions for its previous two seasons drawing capacity houses at the Royal Backstage Theatre and such an incredible response at the Kwasuka Theatre that the season was extended.

Tickets Tuesday and Sunday R100 include a two-course meal and the show. Wednesday to Saturday evenings costs R130 for three course meal and show.

Booking is at the Lango's Theatre directly on 031 563-7324 or through Computicket or by calling 011 340-8000. (See review in Supper Theatre pages)
