RHUMBELOW SHOWS (article first published : 2001-09-25)

The Rhumbelow Shellhole in Cunningham Road (off Bartle Road) is now home to The popular Family Players.

The next production is on October 5, 6 and 7 featuring Anthony Stonier, Carole Trench and Evan Roberts, the same cast who presented the highly successful Letís Misbehave at the Royal Hotelís Backstage earlier this year.

London Calling is a delightful musical nostalgia touching on all that is English from the times of Dragons and King Arthur, passing Henry VIII, the vaudeville era, the World Wars and post war Britain up to the present day. This Herculean task is achieved by highlighting specific eras and leaping whole dark ages in between!

Warm and witty, London Calling features such popular numbers as Where are the Simple Joys of Maidenhood, Greensleeves, Mad Dogs and Englishman, We'll Meet Again, Hard Day's Night, Don't go Breaking My Heart, Goldfinger, Memory and many more.

London Calling concludes with an English pub style sing-a-long. Tickets R50 include a two-course meal. Seating is at tables of eight (which can be booked as a block at R400). Booking is essential as capacity is limited. Vegetarians need to identify requirements when booking. Limited secure parking available.

Performances October 5 and 6 at 19h00 for 19h30 and October 7 at 17h00 for 17h30.To book contact Roland Stansell on (031) 205-7602 (home) or 082 499-8636 or e-mail: roland@stansell.za.net
